BC the land of Fantasy Gardens once again

I planned to keep an eye on the BC Liberal throne speech and add my comments about Premier Photo Op’s pre-election prescription for prosperity. I won’t bother though because Vaughn Palmer wrote one paragraph that says everything that needs to be said.

Here is Palmer’s version of Clark’s throne speech, sans puffery:

Listen up, voters. We’re going to build a bunch of LNG terminals, create umpteen jobs, raise a zillion dollars, eliminate the sales tax, wipe out the provincial debt and we can all live happily ever after.

  2. So while people across BC honour “Pink Shirt” day in recognition of anti-bullying, Premier Christy Clark's own team member takes bullying to a whole new level. Liberal MLA Kevin Krueger responded to a request for an investigation into the Liberal MLA Pat Bell scandal by sending an email to the author of that request. Here is a copy of that email:
    From: Krueger.MLA, Kevin
Date: Tue, Feb 26, 2013 at 4:01 PM
    Subject: The Honourable Pat Bell
    To: “conservatives@bcconservative.ca” , “Krueger.MLA, Kevin”

    Attention: B.C. Cons:
Mr. Cummins, and everybody involved in this news release, are “Unmitigated” MORONS to have published such crap as this.
Pat Bell is beloved in Prince George, for good reason. There is not ONE of you scum worthy to tie his shoes – nor tall enough.
    What idiots you are.
    Kevin Krueger, MLA

I wonder if Christy will defend Kevin Krueger or does she believe, “scum”,”Morons” & idiots are what people should be calling each other ?

  5. Isn't this whole thing about debt?

BC has a massive debt, which the govt can only seem to deal with by growing the GDP. Not going to work.

LNG seems just desperation, wishful thinking.

  7. Isn't amazing that they are talking about getting rid of the PST? Had voters voted “no” to retain the HST, surely, they would not even considered getting rid of it in spite of LNG revenue? Would they get rid of such a superior and efficient tax? Would they have dared?

I realize that my comments are hypothetical…..
