CBC Vancouver News reports that Torstar, owner of Toronto’s largest paper, is in the running to take over financially and intellectually bankrupt Canwest Newspapers.

To determine if this might be an unsatisfactory outcome for British Columbians, CBC interviewed a Professor from Carleton University’s School of Journalism and Communications in Ottawa.

Yes, to report to a west coast audience on the desirability of west coast newspapers being published by a company based 3,350 km away, CBC’s west coast station brought us an expert based 3,540 km away.
