BC’s NDP government promised, “On May 19, 2022, the Province introduced a new oil and gas royalty system that puts the interests of British Columbians first and eliminates outdated and inefficient fossil-fuel subsidies.” More than fifteen months later, we learn from the province’s just released audited financial statements that subsidies by way of royalty credits taken in one year by producers increased by $154 million to $1.7 billion.
In addition, another $2.3 billion is available for producers to reduce or eliminate future royalty payments.

Yes but true to form in BC not enough voters care to hold the government to account. Another example of government capture by private industry? It is standard fare and we are used to it.

The NDP have been in bed with the likes of of SNC Lavalin, Bombardier (The Millennium Line and the $11 billion Expo and millennium line extensions), the gas and oil industry as well as the forestry industry.
The taxpayer in the NDP’s eyes are nothing but “milch cows” for their erratic spending.
Former premier Horgan got a board seat with a coal company for his obedience (thermal coal makes up over 40% of the CO2 emissions contributing to global warming and climate change) and one would think the current premier has already been told of the gold plated plum when he leaves political.
The grossly over rated Carbon Tax, is mere theatre giving good optics for politicians in the bough and paid for mainstream media at election time, but does little to mitigate global warming as revenues collected just go into general revenue.
We are now in a modernized feudal system where the elites lead by the golden rule: Who has the gold, rules!
All we elect today is grifters wanting power and as we see down south, you can fool some of the people all the time and the same is true north of the 49th.
