Media bias

Ad Fontes Media is a non-profit watchdog that rates media for bias and reliability. The name comes from Latin words meaning “to the sources.” The organization concluded its own output is biased, because all reports by humans are affected by personal judgments and preferences.

Ad Fontes argues that individuals should use their own reasoning to evaluate the usefulness and trustworthiness of media reports. The Media Bias Chart is helpful but there are a few odd placements. For example, Brent Baier’s Special Report and Fox & Friends are rated more reliable than the Fox network that broadcasts those shows.

However, in my biased opinion, the Chart is fairly accurate.

  1. Interesting chart!

60 Minutes is on my weekly watch list… and if agree it slightly left of centre.

There’s a lot to sift through, but I couldn’t see CBS’s ‘Face the Nation’ with Margaret Brennan. She certainly hosts both sides of the spectrum.. though I’d say she is (rightfully) harder on the Trump gang.

  2. I’m not sure if this addresses the question of what a channel/document doesn’t show us as part of the bias. What’s excluded is often of great consequence. I don’t see Dr. Beer ‘n Hockey there!
