When Paul Willcocks writes commentary, I pay attention. The Tyee’s Senior Editor recently asked, “Which Side Is John Rustad On? Following are a few of the points made in The Tyee article.
The B.C. Conservatives have a Trump problem that goes far beyond the five dissident MLAs who refused to condemn his tariffs and support a united Canadian response.
It starts with leader John Rustad, who genuinely seems to believe that appeasement will work with Donald Trump, despite all the evidence to the contrary.
And that Trump’s irrational threat of tariffs, based on phoney claims and disinformation, is justified.
The real aggressors in the looming trade war are Canada, Alberta and the other provinces, Rustad argues…
And on X, Rustad repeated the claim that Trump is the victim…
Rustad also ignores realities that contradict his simplistic, politically driven position…
The B.C. Conservative leader also — and most alarmingly — ignores the reality of Trump’s dishonest tactics and constantly changing positions.
Trump has shown that a conciliatory approach is doomed. It simply emboldens the U.S. president to demand more, in the way of all dishonest bullies…
Rustad is more interested in scoring points in a perpetual election campaign than in protecting British Columbians

Check back on all the things that Rustad advocated that got him bounced out of the BC Liberal/United caucus, and none of this is a surprise. As is the case with a lot of lesser politicians who hope to win by being on the side of the winners, regardless of the harm they do to the bones of civilization, he would end up a loser along with the rest of us that he hopes to drag into the abyss.

Rustad is as dumb as they come in his positions and he seems to be encouraged by Global News.
If people continue to support him they will regret it. Trump is a convicted felon, sexual assaulter, unable to tell the truth, bully, dead beat–doesn’t pay his bills, racist–fires people of colour who are doing their jobs well, etc. If Rustad supports that, he might want to give his head a shake or find another job..
We see Rustad on global news carrying on as if it the end of the world when a E.R. is closed. He needs to get a grip and Global needs to have a look at what they are reporting. An ER closer in a rural area is not news for the whole province, unless of course you don’t have anything constructive to say. Is Rustad so stupid he doesn’t know there is a shortage of doctors in Canada and many other places in world.
He also seems unaware you can not force medical staff to go work some where they don’t want to. this country isn’t ruled by Russia. Do wonder though with his attitudes if he would like that situation.
So Global stop being a mouth piece for Rustad, focus on news. Rustad hire some one to fact check things for you or simply shut up when you have nothing important to say.
