Reader SKYLAB responded to the IN-SIGHTS article, John Rustad: Trump is the victim. That comment is shown below the separator.
The Hon. Mr. Rustad, fondly admired among certain nay-sayers as “Ebeneezer,” disapproves of Canada’s opposition to Trump’s Tariffs. Never shy about his prejudices, he staunchly defends what his Dear Leader claims is important.
On “Enron” Musk’s X platform, Cranky Old EB woefully describes his ideological saint as a Victim. As a man, heroic. A sufferer ensnared in a Greek Tragedy. A man overburdened by dilemmas, excluding attention to the downsides of hubris and mistaken sex-partner identity problems with Mom.
But let us name and shame those wicken ones who betrayed and sullied The Chosen One! There’s Canada, Panama, Mexico, Greenland, Denmark, Britain, and (gasp!) wicked Europe too!
The list of Offenders? It grows. Soon, Taiwan and Japan must be added to the wicked list. Not that that implies malice. Or onrushing senility.
Apparently oblivious to the intended consequences, Mr Rustad pleads the case for humble submission to threats. Best to appease a despot to keep him happy. Like Munich, in 1939. Or Stalin at the Potsdam Conference in 1945.
It seems Ebeneezer has never heard of Abraham Lincoln explaining that A house divided cannot stand. Hence, each province should approach the Trump administration alone. Apparently, all countries being attacked should plead their sovereignty case separately and cave in one-by-one collectively, like bowling pins.
Nor is he aware of the old imperial edict to divide and rule.
The fate of Vidkun Quisling? Did Ebeneezer miss that lecture? The idea of a fifth column undermining a target country from within? Never attended that lecture either?
Does the BC Conservative leader consult polls? Like most Canadians, a large majority of Americans reject Trump’s tariffs. In recent polling, Quebec is now more closely aligned with Le Canada than ever before. Why? To sustain the hope of being maîtres chez nous, why trade subservience to and exploitation by Le Canada for total dominance by America as the 51st state?
Something strange? Other than your blog and the Tyee, nobody in media has reported Mr Rustad’s “surrender monkey” post.
Well gee whillikers, Mr Farrell! A suspicious person might think that BC media doesn’t want voters to see what Ebeneezer thinks Canadians should know about him. Not before the next provincial election!

The “Rustad” problem is of the NDP’s making and the hubris that surrounds the party.
In BC, the real NDP is dead, as dead as Marly’s ghost and today, BC’s NDP is a reborn Vision(less) Vancouver provincial party or VVPP.
The VVPP essentially a Metro Vancouver provincial party, they have absolutely ignored the rest of the province. This has lead to BC’s interior being called the “Hurtlands” because in the current Eby/VVPP view, the “Hurtland’s are expendable as are the people who live there.
This has given rise to the Maple MAGA’s taking over the Conservative Party, in fact the BC Liberals were an earlier version of the “Maple MAGA’s”, thus the two parties amalgamated when former Maple MAGA, and BC Liberal leader Kevin Falcon, without anyone’s consent, folded the party into the Maple MAGA Conservatives.
The VVPP, barely won an election against anti-science, anti-vax, anti everything, religious nutter’s, otherwise know as the Maple MAGA Conservative party.
The VVPP are hell bent on “made in Vancouver” (read F*** the rest of the province) solutions, that do not work on a provincial scale. Billions of dollars are spend by the VVPP on politically prestigious projects with no thought for the future.
The VVPP is supported by a fanatical mob, the same sort of fanatical mob that supports the Maple MAGA/Conservative party and here lies the upcoming fiasco, both parties remain blind to the needs of the public, both parties are hard lined and will not bend, both parties are toxic to to an every increasing population divide.
With no real choice, the “EYE” did not vote in the last provincial election as the “Eye” viewed both Eby and Rustad UNFIT FOR OFFICE.
Note: The following quote is untrue; “Like most Canadians, a large majority of Americans reject Trump’s tariffs.” Sorry, most Americans do not have a clue about the tariffs and those that do know, don’t care unless it effects them financially.
