In 2019, Anthony Scaramucci, Trump’s former White House communications director, warned us that the current American President “may not have early stage dementia, but he has full-blown early stage fascism.”
We have seen recent evidence of both dementia and fascism.

Fascism is an authoritarian political philosophy. It opposes pluralism, individual rights, and equality. Fascists take an intense interest in defining which groups belong or do not belong to the national body. In fascist states, violence is accepted—even celebrated. Fascists reject the practices of representative or democratic government and prefer an authoritarian leader. Expansion of military power and national territory is a prime goal, even if armed conflict results.

At the White House today, Donald Trump pledged again to eliminate Canada and occupy Greenland, using military force if necessary to take over the Danish territory.
“Canada only works as a state,” he went on. “If you look at a map, they drew an artificial line right through it, between Canada and the U.S., just a straight artificial line. Somebody did it a long time ago — many, many, decades ago, and makes no sense. It’s so perfect as a great and cherished state.”
…There was a grim irony here in that his rhetoric on Canada bears a striking resemblance to Vladimir Putin’s own words on Ukraine. For years before he launched his invasion of Ukraine, Putin engaged in a similar campaign of attacks on the validity of Ukraine’s existence, repeating the falsehood that it was “not even a real country.”
Trump says Canadians could keep O Canada as a state anthem. As the 51st state with a population of 40+ million, Canada would be entitled to two seats in the Senate, thus having as much political clout as the 590,000 residents of Wyoming, or the 650,000 citizens of Vermont, or the states of Alaska, North Dakota, and South Dakota which each have populations under 1 million.
Canada would have two U.S. Senators, while 23 states with about the same population as Canada would have 46 Senators. Of course, we’d also have Americanized healthcare, and our new leading cause of personal bankruptcy would be healthcare costs.
There would be economic benefits from joining the USA. Plenty of new gun and ammo stores would be opened, and more paramedics would be hired to treat or dispose of people wounded by gunfire. Schools would expand employment by hiring armed guards. Private prisons would have to be constructed to hold persons of colour and unwelcome migrants.
Pierre Poilievre won’t be too disappointed. Instead of being the Conservative Prime Minister of the nation Canada, he might become the Republican Governor of the great state of Canada. Donald Trump may even take Pierre’s telephone calls.

Sorry. Even if he was Governor of Canada, Trump would never take Poilievre’s phone call.

It is time for Canada to close its borders to the USA and anyone wishing to travel to the country have an exit Visa.
It is time to conclude that Trump and Vance are Russian assets, hell bent to destroy the USA from within.
It is time for Canada to grow up and face the challenges of being an independent country.
It is time for Canada for the next decade, spend 5% of its GNP on the military.
It is time for Canada to go nuclear for a “porcupine defense”.
It is time to do what we don’t want to do, but must do because the world has changed, everything has changed and doing the same thing we did just one year ago, will not work in today’s world.
Canada must become leaner and meaner. No more mister nice guy.
I think the Canadian public have spoken but our politcans and bureaucrats have not, as of yet, faced the new realities of Trumpian Fascist State.
