I’m almost 75, and learned to pursue this agenda in my callow youth at the behest of strict but ever-so-loving parents. Got a good dose of Roman Catholicism which preached a good part of it, though they also gave me a lesson in cognitive dissonance in looking at historical practices. Long studies in language and literature, history, geography and social mores reinforced this creed all along the way, at least in part by directions into which I steered myself.
Peeling back layers of obfuscation from official history and current events enhanced the sense that there are many now, and all through history, who mouth these principles while walking a path of nasty self-aggrandizement and inflicting misery all around. Over the last decades, we have descended, as a society, into a hypocritical hell where none of my indoctrination holds sway and even the spectre of annihilation is insufficient to change the course of events, it would seem.
