  1. Many, including me, knew that electing Trump a second time would do enormous damage to society. But the scope and reach of his ignorant depravity was beyond my imagination.

Virtually everywhere one looks these days, previously unthinkable wrongs are being visited upon not only the citizens and institutions of the U.S., but other countries as well. And they are being inflicted by people who have no business being anywhere near the levers they have been handed. All while approximately half of the elected officials, and a third of the eligible U.S. voters look on in apparent glee.

The really distressing aspect of this is that there appears to be no effective means of peacefully halting this abomination, with traditional institutional remedies not being exercised by the compromised cowards entrusted with that role, busy as they are further undermining and choking off any avenues of relief, including the midterm elections.

How bad can it get? I suspect that too may be unimaginable.

    • It will get worse, much worse and my crystal ball sees a bleak future for the USA.

Their once coveted institutions have been shown to be nothing more than Hollywood inventions, over played, over acted and badly stale dated.

Their constitution has been reduced to a scrap of paper by a treasonous Supreme Court; their politcans corrupted by billions of lobbyist dollars and their economic system, a toy for the billionaire oligarchs.

The USA is today, a third world banana republic armed with nukes!

A country which history is a distorted myth, much over hyped by again, Hollywood History.

The ponzi scheme which is Trumpian economics will lead to world wide catastrophe and Canadians will get front row seats/

  2. Good points.

But of course. What to expect when the top echelon of the US Government is occupied by former FOX News “personalities”?

    https://www.thelist.com/1856442/how-many-fox-news-staffers-joined-trump-administration/

In the Trump administration, over 25 Fox Corporation staff members have been appointed to various positions, including key roles such as Secretary of Defense and U.S. Attorney for Washington D.C.. Additionally, there are 19 former Fox News personalities nominated for senior positions in the Trump administration, highlighting the significant influence of Fox News in shaping the administration.

Would more detail on each help?

Following WW2 the “Brain Drain” meant an exodus of professionals from Europe to North America.

And now? Where will America’s “Brain Drain” send their best and brightest? If they can get in.

  3. Et tu, GROK? Et tu, Rogan?

    https://www.the-independent.com/news/world/americas/us-politics/newsom-trump-dementia-grok-troll-b2814829.html

Can President Trump trust Elon Musk’s GROK after this?

“We sent hundreds of millions of gallons of water per day into the Pacific Ocean,” the president said, resurfacing claims that he sent wildfire-ravaged Los Angeles critical water supplies in January, which he says California’s leaders refused to provide.

“They turn a valve. The valve heads out. We turned the valve back. I actually had to do it using force.” Trump continued in his staccato-style address.

In comments directed at Gavin “Newscum,” Trump urged the governor to “turn the rest of the water on.”

Newsom reposted a clip of Trump’s attack on X before landing a jab of his own – a screenshot of an interaction with Elon Musk’s AI chatbot Grok, thrusting Trump’s mental acuity into question.

“Do people with dementia repeat false things over and over again?” the message to Grok read.

“Yes, people with dementia can repeat false statements or beliefs, a behavior often linked to memory impairments and cognitive changes,” the chatbot replied.

“This can manifest as confabulation, where they create or repeat false memories to fill gaps in recollection, or perseveration, where they fixate on a particular idea or statement.”

Then it got worse. With Trump zealot Joe Rogan expressing doubts.

    https://www.the-independent.com/news/world/americas/us-politics/joe-rogan-trump-2020-election-b2815018.html

More recently, Rogan has been calling out the man he endorsed for president. In July, the podcaster ripped into the Justice Department’s handling of the Epstein files.

“They’ve got videotape and all a sudden they don’t,” Rogan said. “You had the director of the FBI on this show saying, ‘If there was [a videotape], nothing you’re looking for is on those tapes,’” referring to FBI Director Kash Patel’s interview with Rogan in June.

He also criticized the Trump administration’s aggressive ICE raids on his show, appearing to suggest that they had taken things too far.

“The targeting of migrant workers — not cartel members, not gang members, not drug dealers. Just construction workers. Showing up in construction sites, raiding them. Gardeners. Like, really?” Rogan said. “I don’t think anybody would have signed up for that.”

Mr Rogan’s podcast has ranked at #1 in America.

    https://www.the-independent.com/news/world/americas/us-politics/joe-rogan-meidastouch-podcast-youtube-b2800447.html

Joe Rogan has been dethroned as America’s number one podcaster on YouTube by a staunchly anti-MAGA, “pro-democracy” show.

After months of sharply criticizing President Donald Trump’s actions, decisions and rhetoric, the left-leaning MeidasTouch Podcast overtook the Joe Rogan Experience for the first time last week, according to YouTube’s weekly ranking of top podcast shows.

While Rogan’s 20.1 million YouTube followers dwarf MeidasTouch’s 5.2 million, the podcasting giant’s show finished in second place. Progressive YouTuber Brian Tyler Cohen and conservative-leaning Sean Ryan’s shows also made the top ten.

  4. Speaking unimaginable Mr. Edwardson,

    https://meidasnews.com/news/confused-trump-promises-to-reduce-drug-prices-by-1500

If only Canada’s leaders were as certain about how pharmaceutical arithmetic works.

Confused Trump Promises to Reduce Drug Prices by 1500%

Donald Trump announced at his rambling one-hour press conference for an executive order to ban flag burning on Monday that he will be reducing drug prices in the U.S. by 1500%. The price of something mathematically cannot be reduced more than 100%, since that would bring the cost to zero.

“We have something coming up, favored nations,” Trump said, “where I am going to be reducing drug prices by fourteen, fifteen hundred percent. Where a pill that sells in Germany for ten dollars cost one hundred and fifty dollars here.”

As if to assure us that he wasn’t just misspeaking, Trump repeated the claim again, stating, “we’re going to be doing numbers on the cost of drugs in this country. I’m not talking about a twenty percent decrease, I’m talking about a one thousand percent decrease.”

No word on how Trump plans to work this negative price reduction into his budget, since it would involve paying Americans to take their prescription drugs.

That press conference? August 25, 2025. A date to remember.

Can’t wait until the drug companies pay me to take Metformin!.

    Bet that’ll happen real soon!

  5. Mr Edwardson,

Yes, the link to Mr Trump’s non stop self-approval circus reveals his um, thinking. Which is as unique as expected.

Missing from his incredible list of mirage successes?

    https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/usaid-equipment-sale-projects-canceled-trump-defund-b2815242.html

“The Trump administration is reportedly selling, redistributing, or simply losing track of millions of dollars worth of equipment and supplies connected to the U.S. Agency for International Development, the foreign aid agency it shuttered and folded into the State Department earlier this year.“

“The U.S. embassy in Guatemala has auctioned off electronics like iPads, ring lights, megaphones, and defibrillators, while a USAID warehouse in Nigeria sold off computer supplies and used generators, according to the magazine.”

“Other USAID property has reportedly languished or been destroyed, while Congress passed a package clawing back $8.3 billion in mostly foreign aid funds in July.”

“A USAID inspector was reportedly fired in February after revealing $500 million in food aid was about to spoil amid a funding freeze on aid projects the Trump administration put in place soon after taking office.”

    It’s Orwell.

    Pure Orwell.

    As expected.

“U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. made myriad false and misleading claims on Thursday as he fielded questions examining his seven-month tenure leading the nation’s health agencies at a contentious three-hour hearing.”

“Kennedy ignored government data, twisted legislation and pointed to unsubstantiated treatments while addressing topics such as COVID-19 vaccines, rural hospitals and school shootings.”

“A lightning rod is someone who attracts a lot of criticism, in particular in order to shield other people (like a literal lightning rod diverts lightning harmlessly into the ground). It is thus related in meaning with scapegoat, i.e. someone who is blamed for the mistakes of others.”

    https://www.thedailybeast.com/rfk-jr-says-trump-deserves-nobel-prize-while-slamming-covid-response/

“Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said President Donald Trump deserved a Nobel Peace Prize for Operation Warp Speed, but he also decried the U.S. response to COVID as the worst in the world.”

“The Health and Human Services secretary and known vaccine skeptic appeared before the Senate Finance Committee on Thursday, where he was grilled about the turmoil at the CDC, accusations that he was undermining science, and concerns over his department limiting access to the COVID vaccine.”

“Do you agree with me that the president deserves a Nobel Prize for Operation Warp Speed?” Cassidy asked.

    ““Yeah, absolutely, Senator,” Kennedy responded.”

“That’s when the GOP lawmaker calmly tore into the HHS secretary, noting that he told Senator Mike Bennet that the COVID vaccine killed more people than COVID.”
