Alberta Conservatives recently declared that publications their supporters consider inappropriate should be removed from schools. A government order specified that students should not be exposed to sexual content. Among other things, there was to be no written mention of masturbation. Danielle Smith’s government fears that teenagers might discover and engage in the practice if it is mentioned in reading material.
UCP would like to turn back the clock to when lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people were not found in schools. Certainly there were none when I was in high school long, long ago.
Alberta Politics commentator David Climenhaga blamed religious “parents’ rights” groups for driving the UCP’s no-sex and anti-2SLGBTQ+ book ban policies.
The whole thing was prompted by still-unidentified literary vigilantes from a group that lobbies for private schools and home schooling and another that claims its goal is to “to protect Canada’s rich heritage which is founded on Judeo-Christian biblical principles.” They demanded to search school libraries and found a few titles with images that offended Dr. Nicolaides’ tender sensibilities.
School boards were given the task of rooting out “explicit sexual content” and “non- explicit sexual content” for the purposes of banning…
Climenhaga appears not to admire Demetrios Nicolaides. He bluntly calls the Education Minister a jackass.
Nicolaides also insists that his book ban isn’t a book ban because it forces school boards who don’t want to ban books to do the book banning, thereby allowing the government that wants certain books banned to be able to insist it’s not the book banner. That kind of logical jackassery, needless to say, fools no one.
The commentator believes that many members of Alberta’s UCP would like to establish an immigrant-free theocratic dystopia.
Author Margaret Atwood may have had the best response:
Here’s a piece of literature by me, suitable for seventeen-year-olds in Alberta schools, unlike — we are told — The Handmaid’s Tale. (Sorry, kids; your Minister of Education thinks you are stupid babies.)
John and Mary were both very, very good children. They never picked their noses or had bowel movements or zits. They grew up and married each other, and produced five perfect children without ever having sex.
Although they claimed to be Christian, they paid no attention to what Jesus actually said about the poor and the Good Samaritan and forgiving your enemies and such; instead, they practised selfish rapacious capitalism, because they worshipped Ayn Rand. (Though they ignored the scene in The Fountainhead where “welcomed rape” is advocated, because who wants to dwell, and also that would have involved sex and would de facto be pornographic. Well, it kind of is, eh?)
Oh, and they never died, because who wants to dwell on, you know, death and corpses and yuk? So they lived happily ever after. But while they were doing that The Handmaid’s Tale came true and Danielle Smith found herself with a nice new blue dress but no job.
The end.

I think this episode of the centuries old practice of censorship has unfolded in a satisfactory manner.
The devious, small-minded zealots have been outed. The authoritarian opportunistic politicians have been embarrassed and forced into a clumsy retreat, foolishly burning bridges they will need in the future. The enlightened adults in the room have carried the day, for now (there will always be new episodes).
And the majority of students targeted as pawns in this sordid attempt to “shape” their minds are no doubt intelligent enough to sort out who the villains are, and what constitutes a valid threat to their education. For future reference.

“STUNNING POLL NUMBERS “78% of young Republicans want health care & tech nationalized. 79% of Trump 2024 voters agree.””
“Steve Bannon Rages: Young Republicans Want Nationalized Health Care”
Are today’s (September 9, 2025) Republicans (18-39) so selfish, mis-educated and self-absorbed that they would dare betray The Chosen One, Donald Trump?
Have too many Americans read the wrong books, viewed the wrong videos, visited Canada or noticed things they like in other countries?

The battle over what voters should believe begins with Steve Bannon and Rasmussen Lead Pollster, Mark Mitchell, sounding the alarm.
crooksandliars.com/2025/09/steve-bannon-flips-young-republicans-healthcare
“MITCHELL: Well, here’s a really good example. This is an 18 to 39 year old likely voter survey.”
“I have to thank the folks at Stopping Socialism, Justin Haskins, the Heartland Institute for sponsoring this. It’s free. People can go to RasmussenReports.com, download the cross tabs, because there’s a lot of stuff in here.”
“But here’s one example. This is a sample that we weighted to a Trump minus four recalled vote.”
“This is how it looked in November. Do you agree or disagree with this statement?
“Major industries like healthcare, energy, and big tech should be nationalized to give more control and equity to the people.” All
“If the Zoomers were really based, that number should be a pretty low number, but it’s not. 76% of 18 to 39 year olds at least somewhat agree with that.”
“Almost 40% strongly agree, but here’s the problem. It’s not just the Democrats. 78% of self-ID’d Republican young people who want major industries like healthcare and tech nationalized.”
“That’s absolutely insane.”
“And it’s a vast majority of Trump 2024 voters. So people did not vote for Trump because they’re conservative. Yes, 79% of Trump 2024 voters want to nationalize major industries. We have 57% of Trump 2024 voters wanting excess wealth confiscation.”
“These people are not just going to be happy with, you know, let’s cut a few regulations.”
“BANNON: If that’s the way, and I keep telling, if that’s the system you want, you’re going to get Luigi on one end or you get Mondami on the other.”
“Okay.”
“You’ve brought this on yourself.”
“I don’t know.”
“I back these kids in that they don’t know the details of change, but it has to change.”
“Do we have to nationalize tech or big health?”
In the UK there’s a similar solution on the rail, energy, and water sector crises…
Keir Starmer has indicated that the Labour Party will not nationalize certain industries, including the rail, energy, and water sectors. He has expressed a pragmatic approach to nationalization, stating that businesses are best run by the private sector and that the government should partner with them rather than take on the role of ownership. While there are discussions about nationalizing utilities, Starmer has clarified that the Labour Party is not considering nationalizing the big six energy companies.
Mr Starmer’s Pragmatism ignores polls indicating that nationalizing British Water is supported by 80% of the population.
Only 80%?

So states Forbes. Now with a list of Trump family members and how much wealth they’ve accumulated in record time and with no prior history of any financial acumen.

Used to take decades to earn such sums. But not anymore! Can only be due to the power of prayer.
“President Trump just had the most lucrative year of his life. But percentage-wise, members of his immediate family, including sons Eric, Don Jr. and Barron, did even better.”
“Crypto is the big driver, but additional funds have come from advising right-wing companies in America and partnering with cash-rich firms overseas, especially in the Middle East. Family members who never had significant fortunes of their own—Eric, Don Jr., Barron and Melania—have accumulated tens, then hundreds of millions of dollars. All told, the family (including the president’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner) is now worth an estimated $10 billion, having nearly doubled its net worth since last year’s election.”
Barron Trump NET WORTH: $150 million
Donald Trump Jr. NET WORTH: $500 million
Eric Trump NET WORTH: $750 million
Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump NET WORTHS: $1 billion; $100 million
Donald and Melania Trump NET WORTHS: $7.3 billion; $20 million+
