This looks like a cable ferry, at least one of which is still to be found in the hinterland – the one crossing the Fraser south of Lillooet. Is this ferry pictured here, and perhaps others, part of the BC Ferries corporation?
It would appear that there is no budget for even minimal maintenance. I imagine that the corporate powers that be would be happy if the ferries disappeared.
