Regular activity at In-Sights will resume

Regular readers will have noted recent inactivity at IN-SIGHTS. That will soon end.

Our family recently completed the sale of a property near Powell River that had been a gathering place for over 70 years. Of course, it wasn’t just a gathering place for people. Near-endless accumulations of stuff had to be relocated, given away, or junked. George Carlin understood that’s not an easy job because one person’s stuff is sh*t and another person’s sh*t is stuff.

.

The lengthy sales process is complete, but I have remained busy planning overdue renovations at our home. With much of that complete, Gwen and I enjoyed a night out with several grandchildren. We attended Cirque du Soleil CRYSTAL at the Pacific Coliseum.

The show was full of extraordinary performances, but one individual tried to enter the venue in an unusual manner.

No injuries resulted. Vancouver police report the 30-year-old male driver was taken away for a mental health examination. The disturbance was slight; our enjoyment of the show was substantial.

I’ve occasionally been called a cranky old man, but never that after attending Cirque du Soleil. Demonstrating advanced levels of artistry, skill, strength, and fitness, the company of performers is amazing.

Cirque du Soleil doesn’t promote individual stars and we were not provided a list of cast members. The main character of Chrystal seems to have been played by Hjordis Lee, an entertainer who gained skating skills in Coquitlam. She was remarkable.

The show runs until June 8 and tickets are available. Our world has had no shortage of bad news and bad actors in recent times. Two hours spent with Cirque du Soleil remind us that humans are also capable of incredible artistry that brings joy to people of all ages.

  1. Thank you Norm.
These days it’s easy to become discouraged. But then the bad guys win.
While I missed the Cirque du Soleil this year, I have several of their DVDs.
    Thanks for reminding me.
