The defining moment of Bill Clinton’s political career might be his statement to a grand jury, claiming he wasn’t lying about Monica Lewinsky when he said, “There’s nothing going on between us.”

“It depends on what the meaning of the word ‘is’ is. If the–if he–if ‘is’ means is and never has been, that is not–that is one thing. If it means there is none, that was a completely true statement….Now, if someone had asked me on that day, are you having any kind of sexual relations with Ms. Lewinsky, that is, asked me a question in the present tense, I would have said no. With that logic, Nixon may have been correct when he told that press conference, “I’m not a crook.” since he was not, at that moment, apparently breaking the law.

Not that I would put a PAB-Bot on the level of former U.S. Presidents, even disgraced ones, but we must admire Dave Crebo’s stubborn refusal to admit or explain shadow tolls paid private operators for vehicles on the Sea to Sky Highway, Kelowna’s William Bennett bridge and who-knows-where-else.

We learned that BC Liberals prefer the term ‘vehicle usage fee’ rather than ‘shadow toll’ but, whatever the jargon employed, the Liberals don’t wanna talk about it. In response to very specific questions, Liberal spokesman Crebo wrote:

Both the ministry and S2S Transportation Group agree the payment mechanism for the concessionaire is not based on a shadow toll.

As Laila Yuile writes, “More verbal games and still no answers.”

Ah, again, more truthiness from BC Liberals. There is a long standing  pattern here. For definitive evidence, I googled the phrase “Campbell breaks promise.’  Restricting the search to pages from Canada, I received 57,700 results, which indicates that disinformation  is one of Campbell’s favorite strategies.
